How it started

11+ years on road. 8,500+ emergency responses

We’re a young married couple blessed to be surrounded by family, friends and many children. Through firsthand experience — both working as a paramedic and being the go-to person for friends seeking first aid advice — we realised there was no easily accessible emergency first aid guide designed specifically to help children in life-threatening situations.

So we created one.

Over the past year we’ve spent countless hours carefully writing, consulting with emergency professionals, and refining every step to produce CriticalCalm’s Emergency Home Guide. Our goal was simple: provide clear, practical guidance so that anyone can know the steps to save little lives.

Why our guide?

Made for the moments before help arrives

We created CriticalCalm because those first few minutes of a childhood emergency can feel overwhelming. Parents and carers need clear steps they can trust and follow quickly, without blindly searching for AI generated medical advice online or trying to rely solely on remembering a first aid course under pressure.

The guide includes carefully chosen, common childhood emergencies including choking, seizures, fevers, head knocks, poisons, burns, and CPR for babies and children — all written in simple language with practical steps and helpful visuals.

You’ll learn when to call an ambulance and vitally, what to do while waiting for them to arrive. Throughout the booklet, you’ll also find QR codes linking to our short explainer videos of essential skills in more detail.

Our hope is to equip you and your family to provide care and remain calm in critical situations.
